The Western Egyptian Economic Opportunity Council food pantry has been facing a tough time providing basic supplies to those in need. The pandemic has led to increased demand for food, and at the same time, donations have decreased. The pantry receives products from the St. Louis Food Bank and Midwest Food Bank once a month, but they haven’t been able to provide enough products lately. The clients can receive Food Pantry once a month and Produce Days every Tuesday, but due to limited products, they had to cancel some Produce Days recently. Despite the shortages, the pantry aims to provide quality food and other necessities to needy families.
With the help of EBOR’s Stock the Pantry – Good Neighbor Award Challenge, we can provide the necessary items to help the pantry serve more families. The food items that the pantry needs the most are canned products, vegetables, fruit, tuna, ravioli, and boxed meals such as Hamburger Helper boxes. The pantry is grateful for anything that can help them achieve their goals. By working together, we can make a significant difference and help the pantry support the families during these tough times.
If you’re interested in donating items to the food drive, please drop by our office, and you’ll see our collection boxes for different counties. The food drive will run from June 7th to July 21st, and we invite you to join us in supporting this cause. You can donate food items or other supplies that could help the pantry provide what the families need the most. Also we will be having some collection events in the near future… keep and eye out for more info over the upcoming weeks.
